Meet the Speaker: 
Rhys Davies

Keynote: The State of ISO55000 and Next Steps

 

KEYNOTE

Rhys Davies, Global Consulting Leader Digital Asset Management, Atkins

Rhys Davies is the Global Consulting Leader for Digital Asset Management at Atkins. In this role he supports the various business units across the Atkins group of companies in delivering value for clients and developing their asset management capabilities.

Rhys is the chair of ISO Committee (TC251) leading 30 countries in developing international standards for asset management leading to the publication of the ISO55000 series in 2014. He continues to direct that group in its ongoing work, now focusing on public policy and finance.

Rhys is a member of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and has been involved in a variety of roles including Board (2014 – 2016) and IAM Council prior to that.

Rhys graduated with BEng (Hons) and MEng in Electronic Engineering from Bangor University in 1990/91. He completed an MBA in 1999 and is a Chartered Engineer. He has developed his career as an asset management specialist in a variety of industries including aerospace, defense, rail, telecoms, utilities and oil & gas. Rhys’s roles have included systems design, consultancy, operations management and audit.

It’s almost 5 years since ISO55000 was published. This presentation will cover ‘What is Asset Management?’, why should we be interested and where it is being adopted globally. Rhys will also address what AM is NOT. Specifically, he will discuss strategic decision making and how we balance asset-related investments and spend in the context of wider organizational spend in an asset management world.
