Ítalo Tadeu de Carvalho Freitas Filho has been the President of AES Brazil Generation since April 2016. He has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pernambuco University Polytechnic School, and Masters degree from the University of Campinas, both in Brazil, as well as a MBA in Finance from the University of Murcia, Spain. He is a certified CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional, USA) and CFAM (Certified Fellow in Asset Management, AMCouncil, Australia). In the past five years he has performed the following functions: (i) Operations Vice President AES Generation Business (ii) Operations and Maintenance Director of AES Tietê and AES Uruguaiana from June 2009 to May 2013; (iii) Maintenance and Operations Director of AES Uruguaiana from May 2007 to June 2009; and (iiii) Engineering and Performance Manager of AES Cartagena, Spain, from March 2004 to May 2007.

AES Tietê is a power generation company composed of nine large and three small hydroelectric plants in the Central and Northwestern areas of the state of São Paulo in Brazil and 400 MW Wind farm in the Bahia State .Together, AES Tietê’s units have an installed capacity over 3 Gigawatts (GW) its positioning the company in the to 5 largest privately owned generation company in the country.

AES Tietê’s hydroelectric power plants have approximately 2,000 km2 of reservoir area and the company is also responsible for the operation of 6 locks in the Tietê-Paraná waterway. This waterway is one of the busiest in Brazil, with 21,412 locking processes registered in 2013, allowing for the transportation of more than 14.5 billion tons of goods in the same year. AES Tietê is one of the affiliates of the AES Corporation in Brazil and currently employs more than 360 AES people and 900 contractors. The AES Tietê successfully completed the implementation of a three-year Asset Management System (AMS) program after having faced diverse operational challenges, caused mainly by equipment wear-out, lack of processes and new regulations in their Hydro plants.

AES Tietê leadership decided to use the Asset Management System implementation one of the main advantage to become a financial and operational benchmark, and use it to leverage the objective to growth through acquisitions or greenfield in the Brazilian electricity sector guaranteeing return to our Shareholders.
