SESSION

Digitizing Asset Management to Increase RONA and Ensure Compliance

LaToya Austin, Business Analyst, Maryland Parks & Recreation & Planning Commission

The M-NCPPC’s Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, in order to comply with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), must take reasonable steps to remove barriers to participation in programs and services. Historically information was collected manually and re-keyed into a combination of Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and a stove-pipe application.

The Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) team has helped improve business processes by providing:

• A single source system, Infor EAM, to provide consistency and increase efficiency
• A comprehensive list of non-conforming “barriers to compliance” for future planning and maintenance
• Mobile devices for the ADA inspection team to promote productivity and shorten the time to document tasks
• ADA checklists in EAM to streamlined processes to view and track asset data

Our new customer-centric, ADA process is a successful strategy adopted to ensure satisfaction. Tasks are completed quicker, errors are fewer, productivity is improved and the regulations for ADA are proactively upheld to ensure integrity. This integrated process meets M-NCPPC’s goal to serve all patrons by establishing accessible and compliant assets throughout the organization.

LESSONS LEARNED

  • Improved asset availability and reduced maintenance costs
  • Progressing towards maintenance maturity
  • Business process standardization across units
